Questions, answered.
Is moissanite a real gemstone?+
Yes. Moissanite is silicon carbide (SiC), a distinct mineral first discovered in 1893 by Nobel Laureate Henri Moissan. It is a mineral in its own right — its own chemistry, its own optical properties, several of which exceed diamond's.
Will my moissanite lose its sparkle?+
No. Silicon carbide is chemically inert and optically stable — it cannot cloud, fade or yellow with age. Like any gem it collects skin oils; a quick clean with warm soapy water restores full fire.
What warranty do you offer?+
Every SOLA™ stone is guaranteed for life: its brilliance, fire, colour and clarity will not change, and if they ever do we replace it. The warranty moves with the stone at no cost. It doesn't cover loss, theft or chips from knocks. See our warranty page for the full terms.
Can I return a stone?+
Yes. Return an unset stone in the condition you received it within 14 days of delivery for a full refund. Sizes cut to your measurements are the exception. Faulty stones are always put right. See our returns page for how.
How long does delivery take?+
In-stock loose stones ship the same or next business day by tracked courier, free of charge anywhere in South Africa — typically 1–3 working days. Any other size in our range, or more stones than we hold, is ordered in and ships in about two weeks. A size that isn't on our list is cut to your measurements in about three weeks.
Can I see stones before buying?+
As near as a screen allows. Every cut is shown turning in the light, and every size is shown at life size on a hand — calibrate your screen once against a bank card and what you see is the stone's real size.
How do I choose a stone size?+
Open any cut and move the size slider: the stone is shown at life size on a hand with a typical 17 mm ring finger, with its carat weight (DEW). Calibrate your screen once and every size is exact.
Which payment methods do you accept?+
PayFast (instant EFT), Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and RCS. Trade accounts can apply for invoicing terms.
What does DEW mean on your listings?+
Diamond Equivalent Weight. Moissanite is slightly lighter than diamond, so we list sizes in millimetres plus the carat weight a diamond of the same dimensions would have — the measurement everyone intuitively understands.
Do you supply jewellers?+
Yes — we have supplied South African jewellers, designers and manufacturers since 1999. See our Trade page to open an account.
Can a jeweller work on a ring with the moissanite still set?+
Yes. Moissanite tolerates over 1,100°C, so routine torch work is safe with normal care. We provide technical guidance to any jeweller working with our stones.
