Moissanite is priced far more simply than diamond. A diamond's price moves with four separate grades and the rarity of each combination; a grown moissanite of a given quality is priced by one thing — how big it is. That's why we can publish every price, and why this page can give you exact figures rather than ranges.
Every size, priced
These are our round brilliants, from the smallest we sell to the largest. The other nine cuts are priced the same way, by weight, so a cushion or an oval of the same carat weight costs the same.

DEW is diamond-equivalent weight: moissanite is a little lighter than diamond, so a stone is described by the weight a diamond of the same size would have. It's simply the familiar way of saying how big a stone looks. See every round at true size on a hand.
What sets the price
Size
Larger stones cost more, but not in proportion: part of every stone's price is the same whatever its size (the growing, cutting, polishing and checking of one stone), so the price per carat falls as stones get bigger.
Not the cut
All ten of our cuts — round, oval, cushion, pear, marquise, princess, asscher, radiant, emerald and heart — are priced by weight alone. Choose the shape you love; it won't cost you more.
Not the grade, because we only sell one
Moissanite is made in several colour grades, and cheaper stones online are often near-colourless (GH) or lower. We sell only DEF colourless, VVS clarity — the top grades — so there is no cheaper tier to trade down to, and nothing to upsell you into. Our grading guide explains what those letters mean.
Why some moissanite costs less
You will find moissanite online for less than ours. When you do, it's usually one of these:
- A lower colour grade. Near-colourless stones show a warm tint, most visibly in larger sizes and in white metal.
- A softer cut. Moissanite's fire depends on precise facet angles; a quickly cut stone looks glassy by comparison.
- Not moissanite at all. Cubic zirconia and glass are sold as “moissanite-style” or “simulated” stones. A genuine moissanite comes with a certificate and passes a moissanite tester.
- No support behind it. Our price includes a certificate of authenticity, a lifetime warranty, free tracked courier and 14-day returns.
In stock or ordered in
Popular sizes are held in stock in South Africa and ship the day you order. Any other size in the range is ordered in for you and arrives in about two weeks, at the same price; a size that isn't listed is cut to order in about three weeks. Each stone's page tells you which it is before you buy.
Comparing with diamond
A diamond of the same size and colour grade costs many times more. The difference reflects where the stone comes from, not how it looks: moissanite has more fire and brilliance than diamond, and it is hard enough for everyday wear. We've set out the full comparison, including what diamond does better, in moissanite vs diamond.
How much is a 1 carat moissanite in South Africa?+
A 1.00 ct round moissanite (6.5mm) costs R 2 400 at Moissanite SA, in DEF colourless and VVS clarity, with a certificate of authenticity and a lifetime warranty.
How much is a 2 carat moissanite?+
A 2.00 ct round moissanite (8mm) costs R 4 000. Every other cut of the same weight costs the same.
What is moissanite's price per carat?+
It falls as stones get larger, because part of each stone's price is the same at any size. Our table lists the exact price of every size we sell.
Does the shape change the price?+
No. All ten cuts are priced by weight alone, so an oval, cushion or pear costs the same as a round of the same carat weight.
Does moissanite hold its value?+
Moissanite is bought to wear, not to trade: there is no established resale market, as there is for diamond. What it keeps is its looks — it doesn't cloud, fade or change colour.
